Job Description:

We are hiring a responsible and experienced Petrol Bunk Manager for our Indian Oil retail outlet. The manager will be in charge of overseeing daily operations, conducting mandatory morning fuel testing, managing staff, handling inventory and cash, and ensuring full compliance with Indian Oil standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Morning Testing & Start-of-Day Duties:

  • Conduct daily morning testing of underground fuel tanks (dip readings and density checks).
  • Ensure all dispensers and systems are working before operations begin.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel levels as per IOCL guidelines.

2. Fuel Unloading:

  • Supervise and coordinate safe unloading of petrol and diesel from tank lorries.
  • Check and verify delivery quantity and quality (dip reading before and after unloading, density check).
  • Ensure unloading procedures follow all Indian Oil safety protocols, including use of safety cones, static ropes, and fire extinguishers.
  • Maintain proper documentation of delivery challans and stock entries.

3. Operations Management:

  • Oversee fuel dispensing, air filling, and any allied retail operations at the station.
  • Maintain proper stock levels and coordinate timely reordering.
  • Ensure all dispensing and safety equipment are functional and serviced regularly.

4. Staff Management:

  • Supervise pump attendants, cashiers, and cleaners.
  • Manage shift schedules and ensure proper manpower coverage.
  • Train staff on customer service, safety, hygiene, and product knowledge.

5. Sales & Cash Handling:

  • Monitor daily sales, maintain cash registers, and ensure proper billing and cash deposit procedures.
  • Prepare daily reports and reconcile physical and system stock.
  • Minimize fuel loss and prevent pilferage.

6. Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with IOCL's safety, fire, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, maintain fire safety equipment, and enforce safety rules.
  • Be prepared to manage emergency situations like spills, fire, or equipment failure.

7. Customer Service:

  • Ensure a clean, professional, and customer-friendly environment.
  • Handle customer queries and complaints effectively.
  • Ensure essential services (air, water, washrooms) are operational and clean.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical/Petroleum/Management) or a Graduate in any discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in petrol bunk or retail operations preferred.
  • Should be familiar with fuel testing, unloading procedures, stock management, and basic compliance rules.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, email, POS systems) required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-handling skills.

Work Schedule & Environment:

  • Must report early morning for testing and station opening.
  • Willing to work on weekends and holidays.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in outdoor environments.
