Key Responsibilities
Capital Markets Expertise:
- Understand and track capital market transactions, including equity, debt, and other financial instruments.
- Work with trading and investment teams to record and reconcile capital market activities.
- Monitor and manage capital markets operations, ensuring transactions are properly reflected in financial records.
General Ledger (GL) Management
- Manage the GL for capital market-related activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for capital market accounts.
- Prepare and review journal entries related to capital market transactions.
- Reconcile capital market accounts to ensure all financial data is consistent and accurate.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring that all capital market transactions are accurately reflected in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights into capital market-related financial performance.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit processes related to capital market activities.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure capital markets transactions comply with relevant financial regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate financial reporting risks related to capital market transactions.
- Assist in the implementation of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with cross-functional teams, including trading, risk management, treasury, and finance operations, to ensure accurate reporting of capital market activities.
- Provide guidance on GL-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues in collaboration with other departments.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify process improvements related to GL and capital market transactions.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems, processes, or technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in capital markets or financial services, with a focus on accounting, GL operations, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of capital market products (equities, bonds, etc.) and their accounting treatment.
- In-depth experience with GL management and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced proficiency in financial reporting and GL accounting systems.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and industry standards
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
