Company Description

IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF) is established to host the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) in Positioning and Precision Technologies (PPT). This project is supported by the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India. As a not-for-profit Section-8 company, IITTNiF aims to drive innovation in PPT with a funding of INR 100 crores over five years.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a GIS Engineer located in Tirupati. The GIS Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing geographic information systems. Day-to-day tasks include spatial data management, performing GIS analyses, creating maps, and maintaining GIS databases. The engineer will collaborate with other team members to solve complex geospatial problems and improve the functionality of existing systems.

Qualifications

  • GIS programming, GIS application development, and spatial data analysis
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and other mapping tools
  • Strong knowledge of spatial databases, data modeling, and data conversion tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on collaborative projects
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing and analyzing data
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, or a related field
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript is a plus
  • Experience in working with remote sensing data and satellite imagery is beneficial
