Job Summary:

The QA Chemist will be responsible for ensuring the quality of raw materials, in-process compounds, and finished rubber products through systematic testing, analysis, and documentation. The role involves close coordination with production, R&D, and customer service teams to maintain consistent product quality as per specifications and industry standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing and analysis of raw materials (rubber, chemicals, fillers, oils, etc.) and finished goods using standard laboratory methods.
  • Perform rheological, physical, and chemical testing (Mooney viscosity, tensile strength, hardness, specific gravity, elongation, aging, etc.).
  • Monitor compound consistency and ensure batches meet required technical specifications.
  • Investigate non-conformities and assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain calibration records of testing instruments and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Review test reports, inspection data, and retain sample records systematically.
  • Prepare and maintain QA documentation — test reports, specifications, COAs, and audit records.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO, customer audits) with accurate test documentation.
  • Work with R&D and production departments on new compound development and process improvement.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols within the lab.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of rubber testing methods (ASTM, BIS, ISO standards).
  • Hands-on experience in operating instruments like Mooney Viscometer, Rheometer, Tensile Tester, Hardness Tester, and Muffle Furnace.
  • Understanding of rubber compounding and process parameters.
  • Proficient in MS Office and QA documentation practices.
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team coordination abilities.
