We are looking for a detail-oriented GIS QA Engineer to ensure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of our GIS applications before they reach our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for GIS applications (web/mobile/desktop).
  • Perform manual and automated testing of GIS workflows, spatial analysis tools, and geospatial data layers.
  • Validate map services, geospatial databases, APIs (OGC standards like WMS/WFS/WCS), and integrations with external systems.
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, and performance testing for GIS applications.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs using tools like JIRA / Bugzilla / GitHub Issues.
  • Work closely with developers, GIS analysts, and product managers to ensure application quality and usability.
  • Verify accuracy of spatial data, projections, and map rendering across multiple platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with data standards, usability guidelines, and client requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in software testing / QA, preferably in GIS or mapping applications.
  • Good knowledge of Esri stack (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro) OR open-source GIS (QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer, Leaflet, OpenLayers).
  • Experience with SQL and spatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server Spatial).
  • Familiarity with API testing (Postman, REST, OGC services).
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Robot Framework, etc.) – preferred.
  • Understanding of geospatial data formats (Shapefiles, GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, KML, GPKG).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cloud-based GIS deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to Python scripting for automated testing.
