Key duties include maintaining payroll records, reconciling accounts, responding to employee queries, and coordinating with HR and accounting departments. An agency role would extend these responsibilities to multiple client companies, often requiring management of various HR and payroll systems.
Key responsibilities Payroll Processing: Calculate and process employee salaries, including time worked, deductions, and benefits. Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all payroll transactions, employee changes, and tax information. Tax and Compliance: Ensure timely payment and filing of all payroll-related taxes and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits like health insurance and retirement plans, ensuring proper deductions and contributions. Account Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll accounts, identify and resolve discrepancies, and assist with audits. Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees with payroll or benefits-related questions. System Updates: Update payroll systems with new hires, terminations, and other changes, and help maintain HRIS data. Reporting: Prepare and distribute various payroll reports for management, accounting, and other stakeholders.
Agency-Specific Duties: Manage payroll and HR functions for multiple client companies. Coordinate with external accounting firms and HR agencies. Adapt to and manage diverse payroll and benefits systems across clients.
Required skills and qualifications Education: A high school diploma is often required, with a degree or diploma in a related field like accounting or human resources being a plus. Experience: Previous experience in payroll processing or a related HR/accounting role is necessary. Experience with specific payroll or HRIS software is often preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency with the MS Office suite and experience with payroll management software is essential. Knowledge: Familiarity with statutory requirements, and labor laws is crucial. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and good communication and analytical abilities are critical for success in this role.
