Head Machining

Purpose/Objective

To lead and manage end-to-end machining and production operations for medium caliber ammunition, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and delivery timelines.

The role demands strategic oversight, operational excellence, and hands-on leadership to achieve production targets aligned with business objectives and defense standards.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement production strategies for medium caliber ammunition lines.

- Oversee machining processes including shell forging, turning, milling, and finishing.

- Ensure compliance with DGQA, MIL STDs, and internal quality systems.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) for efficiency and cost optimization.

- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams for seamless operations.

- Monitor KPIs: throughput, yield, downtime, and quality metrics.

- Ensure safety standards during handling and machining of explosive materials.

- Plan manpower deployment and training for specialized machining operations.

- Support capacity expansion and technology upgrades for advanced machining processes.

Technical Competencies

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification:- Must: B.

Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering - Desirable: M.

Tech in Ammunition Technology or related field Experience:- 14+ years in machining/production of ammunition or precision metal components.

- Exposure to medium/large caliber ammunition manufacturing preferred.

- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, heat treatment, and surface finishing processes.
