Trainee – Australian Bookkeeper/Tax

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Department: Australian Accounting & Tax

Position Type: Full-Time Work From Office

Shift Time: 7:30 am to 04:30 pm

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Trainee – Australian Bookkeeper/Tax to join our Australian accounting team. This role is ideal for freshers or candidates with basic accounting knowledge who want to build a career in Australian bookkeeping, BAS preparation, payroll, GST, and individual/business tax compliance.

You will work under senior accountants and learn how to manage real Australian clients, handle cloud accounting software, and support day-to-day bookkeeping and tax tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Compliance

  • Assist in day-to-day bookkeeping for Australian clients.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank/credit card reconciliations.
  • Enter and review transactions in Xero / QuickBooks Online / MYOB.
  • Update and maintain client files, workpapers, and documentation.

Australian Tax Support

  • Assist seniors in preparing:
  • BAS/IAS
  • GST reconciliations
  • Payroll summaries & STP reports
  • Individual Tax Returns (ITR)
  • Company, Trust, and Partnership tax workings
  • Help in gathering financial data for tax calculations.

Payroll Processing

  • Learn and support weekly/fortnightly payroll.
  • Understand PAYG withholding, Superannuation, STP Phase 2 compliance.
  • Assist in preparing payroll journals and reconciliations.

Client Coordination & Reporting

  • Work with senior bookkeepers to prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports.
  • Maintain task trackers and ensure on-time delivery.

Skills & Requirements

Mandatory

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Good command of English (reading, writing, and communication).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn Australian accounting standards and compliance.

Preferred (not mandatory)

  • Knowledge of Xero / MYOB / QBO.
  • Internship or practical experience in accounting.
  • Familiarity with GST/PAYG concepts.
