Sr. Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

• Design and create detailed schematics, Drawings and layouts for machines, Vessels, Platforms, Structures, control panels, stands ensuring they meet specific operational needs and safety standards.

Fabrication and Assembly:

• Overseeing the entire fabrication process at vendors place and inhouse as applicable, selection of components, assembly of mechanical components.
• Fabrications of vessels, machining of components, Machine assembly of the machine. Involvement and in Projects dept. as and when required.
• Knowledge of using all types of inspection tools, for dimensional details check.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

• Preparation and conducting thorough inspection of fabrication drawings in details, weight calculations, machining costs, new developments of products and designs. Preparations of BOMs.
• Corrections in Drawings with respect to as built vessels.
• Ensure practical functionality of machines through thorough design process and troubleshooting any issues, identifying faulty designs, components or errors.

CAD & 3D modelling using CATIA:

• Knowledge of CAD with hands on proficiency of design and making actual drawings in latest CAD and 3D Catia software is a must requirement.
• Debugging and fault-finding issues in design and rectifications and corrections proficiency must.

Documentation:

• Preparation designs, drawings, BOMs, Weight calculations, Costings, GA layouts, Structure drawings, Prints, maintaining records, authorizing for release to fabrication, inspection reports, test reports, ISO documentation and maintaining detailed documentation of designs, and modifications on per projects basis for future reference.

Coordination:

• Collaborating with Projects, design, and other teams to ensure seamless project execution.

On-site visits for fabrication follow-ups:

• Managing and overseeing the actual fabrication inhouse and on vendors site by regular visits for executions of same.
• Revised drawings with the alterations to be recorded. Ensuring and coordinating hassle free machining, assembly and fabrication at vendors place with timely delivery to Projects department.
• Fixing target dates, making visits, MOMs and inspections reports with the fabricators to get timely deliveries.

Safety Compliance:

• Ensuring all work adheres to relevant safety standards and regulations of the company.

Maintenance and Upgrades:

• Participation in regular and routine factory maintenance, upgrades, and modifications of machines and support to Projects, Service, Marketing & after sales team as and when required to ensure optimal performance and compliance with evolving standards for machines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge: Strong and hands-on knowledge of machine design and drawing preparations, SPMs designs, Monorail and servo gantry structural designs, knowledge components machining, Servo designs, Rotary mechanisms, understanding of electrical systems, components design & selection principles.
• Should have knowledge of electrical equipments and PLC for better understand of the machine operations.
• CAD & 3D modelling using CATIA: Sound Knowledge of CAD with hands on proficiency of design and making actual drawings in latest CAD and 3D Catia software is a must requirement.
• Debugging and fault-finding issues in designs, drawings and rectifications and corrections proficiency is a must.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in design, drawings, machining, fabrications, assembly etc. is a must.
• Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with all team members and stakeholders, Clients, Vendors, Fabricators.
• Project Management: Ability to manage projects, designs and drawings, meet deadlines, and work within given budget.
• Safety Awareness: Commitment to adhering to safety standards and practices.
• Experience - Minimum 8 years in Machine design and fabrication with hands on working capability.
