Senior Software Engineer

Description:

Using the latest versions of Angular you will be developing SmartStreams Design System and component library, applying your experience and technical knowledge into producing modern and effective UI elements that provide a centralised and consistent look and feel across SmartStream's products.

You will manage a diverse workload including multiple parallel tasks and you will prioritise your time and tasks effectively. You will be designing and developing innovative solutions for the world's leading financial institutions.

You will have a proven track record in building software which is of high quality, robust and scalable by design, as well as the ability to understand and introduce outside concepts to challenge the status quo or solve problems in software, tooling and process.

You will use your technical expertise to influence technical direction and to mentor junior members of the team.

Job Responsibilities
•

Writing and testing code in order to develop scalable and robust solutions, which meet the high performance and availability standards of global financial institutions.

• Making code changes and unit testing of the code.

• Investigation of problems and determining the best solution.

• Support on-going maintenance and fixes of SmartStream's solutions and in-house toolkits.

• Collaborating with other developers and other departments.

• Investigation of problems and determining the best solution.

• Create technical documentation for reference and reporting.

• Build credibility with team members and support junior team members by providing feedback.

• Provide effective, inclusive leadership on technical tasks.

• Research and evaluate new and alternate third party frameworks for inclusion in future development.

• Track changes and versions of existing frameworks to ensure solutions remain secure and up to date.

• Encourage team members to engage in research and contribute to technical decisions.

• Communicate effectively with development managers and other teams.

• Adhering to the development roadmap to ensure features and functionalities are delivered on time.

• Oversee and assist solutions in technical direction, including by making compromises and building consensus.

• Demonstrate good leadership qualities by helping to foster enthusiasm and with active encouragement of team members.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Computer Science or IT; demonstrable equivalent professional knowledge.

Experience

• Extensive experience in a software engineering or equivalent role

• Experience of writing tests

• Experience developing in a software vendor environment is advantageous

• Financial software experience is also advantageous
