Head PT&D Design | Role Descriptor

Basic Role Information

Role: PT&D Design Head

Direct Reporting: CTO (Chief Technical Officer)

Location: CO, Gurugram

Role Purpose: The design lead is responsible for overseeing and driving end-to-end design processes for PT&D projects. The role involves design approvals, technical leadership, mentoring the design team, ensuring compliance with industry standards, resolving escalations, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality designs, while fostering technical competency, value engineering and innovation. For now, this role will also serve as a Design Coordinator /BP for the BU, managing all design aspects, ensuring that the designs are in line with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards

Key Accountabilities

Design Leadership and Coordination

Oversee all design submissions across PT&D, for components such as power generators, substations, transmission lines, ropeway systems including cables, towers, and stations

Validate and approve layout plans, detailed electrical schematics, and civil BOQs for PT&D projects

Facilitate thorough reviews of consultant-submitted designs, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory guidelines

Vendor Oversight and Validation

Facilitate thorough reviews of consultant-submitted designs, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and project-specific guidelines

Coordinate with external consultants for all projects of PT&D.

Maintain centralized documentation of design revisions, approvals, and deliverables

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

Coordinate with the Project Controls team to integrate design requirements into planning, budgeting, and monitoring efforts

Support layout preparation, tower placement, and alignment for PT&D projects, ensuring operational feasibility

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all designs comply with safety, environmental, and legal standards, mitigating risks proactively

Maintain updated knowledge of codes, certifications, and emerging regulatory requirements impacting design

Innovation and Knowledge Management

Drive innovation in design practices, focusing on the adoption of new technologies, materials, and methodologies to enhance design efficiency

Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices for PT&D projects across the organization

Promote knowledge sharing frameworks to document design processes, lessons learned, and best practices within the design team and across BUs
