Data and Software Engineering (DSE) is the "build engine" of the IDT Delivery and Engineering. Data and Software Engineering (DSE) is comprised of Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Information Management professionals and is committed to delivering exceptional technical solutions, fostering innovation, and ensuring seamless project execution. Focus of DSE practitioners and leaders spans across technical delivery, engineering excellence, capability development, performance culture, and technical assurance. DSE is responsible for building applications and / or configuring off the shelve or SaaS systems. DSE emphasizes maintaining a safe and respectful workplace while supporting innovation opportunities and upholding the highest standards of technical expertise. What's the role?

Software Engineer – App Development & Operational Process is an individual with proven experience in leading by example in adherence to software engineering best practices, delivering software products/applications generating business value and strong expertise in engineering & operational processes. They are expected to have continuous improvement mindset, driving value-based process, technically proficient in application development, product/application optimization and an active contributor in the organization's data strategy for robust and future ready IT solutions.

Key Accountabilities:

• Active contributor to the Data & Software Engineering functional excellence in terms of definition and maintenance of engineering standards, methods, and tools, bringing in best practices from market standard implementations and Security & Privacy integration for applications pipelines.
• Solution consultation and development in accordance with the enterprise technology principles, methods, standards, and practices.
• Estimation, detailed low level technical design, application technical deliverables including code, associated tests and documentation.
• Manage complex integration scenarios and interfaces between on-premises solutions, cloud and legacy systems.
• Has project operational activities management experience to build and drive delivery excellence operational KPIs through reporting tools/platforms.
• Managed finance activities associated with project/product life cycle management with data analysis expertise including data modeling and data entity identification.
• Coordinate the change management process, incident management and problem management process. Ensure traceability of requirements from Data needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to training and transition.

What we need from you?

Alongside your degree in Computer Science or Engineering, we hope to see the following in your CV:

• 7+ years of experience in the IT industry.
• University degree in any IT discipline.
• Extensive development experience using Python, API integration.
• Proficient in developing AI systems using foundational models. Aware of AI agents & associated protocol like MCP.
• Proficient in one or more of Data Development (SQL, No SQL, Cloud Datastores etc) technologies.
• Proficient in cloud native deployment with CI/CD Pipelines. [One of GitHub Actions] into serverless containers (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experienced in Serverless Computing utilizing Azure functions, Logic App.
• Proficient to build dashboard/reports using reporting platforms/tools like Power Bi, Tableau etc.
• Experience in Agile teams applying the best practices with an eye for code quality and standards.
• Highley proficient with ServiceNow, SAP platforms and highly aware of operational processes using these platforms for financial data consolidation.
• Experience with front-end development using React will be good to have.
• Experience in the energy industry, familiarity with end-to-end energy domain solution building will be good to have.
• Broader community presence with publications and accreditations will be considered a plus.

Special Challenges

• Integrates Inner source, SEMS, Stack Overflow, and AI to get a 360-degree view of best practices, standard, guidelines, reusable codes/pipelines, data platforms, and Software Engineering guidelines and policies.
• Setup a Governance to ensure a good quality software/operational process and guidelines are maintained and up to date.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of new processes, technologies, and data products.
• Subject matter expert for junior of Data engineers and Data Analyst to delivery data products, enhancements, analysis, and recommendations with deep AI technologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data &software products and processes.
• Identify, document, and communicate risk and risk mitigations.
• Have technical curiosity, shares knowledge and is up to date on prevailing engineering practices.
• Active contribution for the implementation efficiency and effectiveness across the pilots and future projects to minimize cost, increase speed of implementation and maximize value delivery through Shift Left & VADA.
