The Data/BI Analyst will be responsible for exploring and understanding complex data models, maintaining existing data marts (DDPs), and creating new ones to support the marketing department's analytical needs. This role requires a strong technical foundation in data warehousing and transformation, as well as a keen business sense to translate data into strategic recommendations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a passion for data quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Modeling and Transformation:
  1. Explore and understand existing data models to identify opportunities for improvement and new data products.
  2. Maintain and enhance existing Derived Data Products (datamarts) using dbt to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and timeliness.
  3. Design, develop, and implement new DDPs to support evolving marketing analytics requirements.
  4. Write and optimise complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes.
  • Data Analysis:
  1. Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements. o Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer specific business questions related to campaign performance, customer behavior, and marketing ROI.
  2. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making within the marketing team.
  • Data Governance and Quality:
  1. Utilise data cataloging tools like Alation (or similar) to document data assets, define data definitions, and promote data literacy across the marketing team.
  2. Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes within dbt / Alation to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the marketing data store.
  3. Establish and enforce best practices for data management and governance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  1. Serve as the primary liaison between the marketing team and data engineering/IT teams.
  2. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  3. Proactively identify and communicate data-related issues and their impact on business operations.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Proven experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar role.
  2. Strong proficiency in SQL, with experience in a data warehousing environment like Redshift.
  3. Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modeling.
  4. Experience in creating and maintaining data marts or similar data delivery pipelines.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  7. Experience working with marketing data (e.g., customer data, campaign performance, web analytics).
  • Preferred Skills and Qualifications (Nice to Have):
  1. Experience with data visualisation and dashboarding tools, particularly Power BI.
  2. Familiarity with data cataloging and governance tools like Alation.
  3. Knowledge of marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, or advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads).
  4. Experience with other programming languages such as Python or R.
  5. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
