Job overview and responsibilities

The Sr. Cloud DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, automating, and managing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on embedding security into every layer of platform engineering, ensuring workloads are compliant, hardened, and aligned with enterprise security guardrails. The engineer will work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to deliver security-by-design cloud environments through automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and proactive monitoring.

• Implement and manage cloud security guardrails using Service Control Policies (SCPs), AWS Config rules, Control Tower, and Systems Manager.
• Create and maintain enterprise-grade Infrastructure as Code frameworks for secure, standardized architectures (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).
• Design and develop automation utilities (Python, Boto3, Bash, ) to enforce compliance and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and manage integrations across security and platform tools (e.g., AWS, Kong, Dynatrace, Artifactory, Harness).
• Partner with Security, DevOps, and Application teams to troubleshoot guardrail-related issues, review solutions, and align roadmaps.
• Automate patch management policies and workflows for cloud workloads using AWS Systems Manager.
  Contribute to security awareness and knowledge-sharing initiatives (documentation, training, workshops).

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years in Cloud Engineering / DevOps roles with at least 3+ years focused on cloud security automation.
• Experience writing and maintaining CI/CD pipeline templates and infrastructure code.
  
  AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Cloud Security: Strong understanding of IAM, encryption, KMS, network security (VPC, NACLs, Security Groups), and logging/monitoring.
• AWS Security Controls: Hands-on with Service Control Policies (SCPs), AWS Config rules, Control Tower guardrails, AWS Organizations.
• IaC: Advanced with Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK for secure deployments.
• Automation & Scripting: Python, Go, Bash/PowerShell, JavaScript for Lambda-based security automation.
• Patch Management: Experience with AWS Systems Manager (SSM) automation documents and compliance dashboards.
• Tooling Ecosystem: Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Harness), artifact management (Artifactory), and monitoring (Dynatrace, CloudWatch).
• Containers & Workloads: Knowledge of securing Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and serverless (Lambda) environments.
• Incident Response: Experience in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and post-mortem processes in cloud environments.
• API Security & Service Mesh: Understanding of Kong, Apigee, Istio/Consul for API management and security patterns.
  Soft Skills: Excellent collaboration, documentation, and ability to mentor peers in secure cloud practices.)

• AWS Certified Security – Specialty
• AWS DevOps Engineer Professional
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate
• Experience designing and/or managing multi-region/distributed systems for high availability.
• Proven experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
• Comfortable driving technical discussions and aligning cross-functional teams to meet platform goals.
• Proven ability to set up and manage robust monitoring, logging, and alerting pipelines (e.g., ELK Stack, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana).
• Hands-on experience with incident management, troubleshooting, and post-mortem processes for production environments.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, recommending, and implementing improvements where applicable.
• Prior experience in templated pipeline development and optimization for technology stacks on .Net, java.Serveless is preferred.
• Experience with data analysis or visualization (e.g., Quick sight, Power) is a plus.
• Experienced in API management strategies such and service mesh patterns such as Kong/Apigee,Istio/Consul
• Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
