Location : 100% Remote (Must be in India)

Duration of Project : 8 months contract

About the Role :

We are hiring a technically proficient Data Engineer for an 8-month, 100% remote contract role (must be based in India). This position requires advanced expertise in SQL and deep operational knowledge of data warehousing principles. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines using Microsoft's ETL tools, ensuring high performance and reliability across large enterprise data warehouses.

Responsibilities :

- Advanced SQL Development : Utilize advanced proficiency in SQL to design, develop, and maintain complex database objects, including stored procedures, views, and functions, ensuring data integrity and query efficiency.

- Data Warehousing Design : Apply solid knowledge of data warehousing principles (e.g., dimensional modeling, Kimball methodology) to design and evolve scalable and efficient data structures.

- Performance Engineering : Work extensively with large data warehouses, specializing in performance tuning, complex query optimization, and detailed execution plan analysis to ensure rapid data delivery.

- ETL/ELT Pipeline Development : Design and implement robust data integration solutions using industry-standard tools, specifically demonstrating strong familiarity with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and ADF (Azure Data Factory) for both ETL and ELT processes.

- Data Quality and Reliability : Implement data quality checks and validation processes within pipelines to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data ingested and transformed.

- Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve complex data flow issues, performance bottlenecks, and database deadlocks in production environments.

Essential Skills and Requirements :

- SQL Expertise : Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write, debug, and optimize complex stored procedures, views, and user-defined functions.

- Data Warehousing Fundamentals : Solid knowledge of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and schema design.

- Performance Tuning : Proven experience working with large data warehouses, specifically focusing on performance tuning, query optimization, and interpreting execution plan analysis.

- ETL Tooling : Strong familiarity and practical experience with data integration tools, including SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and ADF (Azure Data Factory).

- Data Concepts : Understanding of modern data movement techniques (ELT and ETL).

Preferred Experience :

- Databricks : Experience utilizing Databricks (Spark, PySpark) for advanced data processing and transformation within a cloud environment is a preference but not mandatory.
