Job Responsibilities:

  • Processes charterer deductions for owner's expenses in a timely manner, according to the terms outlined in charterparty agreements
  • Tracks deductions, requests and reviews supporting documents, obtains approvals by liaising with appropriate JVCO departments
  • Allocates costs to expense accounts, monitors provisions, identifies excluded costs and issues invoices to charterers where applicable
  • Prepares invoices for crew bonuses and other recoverable costs
  • Monitors aging of outstanding owners expense deductions and supports AR and Commercial Teams with the shared goal of resolving deduction issues in a timely way.
  • Reconciles GL accounts, investigates and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains owners expense statistics for charterers and by vessels. Example: nature of deduction, amount, frequency, accept vs rejected.
  • Maintains records of charterers supporting documents in shared drive
  • Contributes ideas and actively participates in improvements to enhance the overall efficiency of the Owners Expense process, including both technology and non-system based solutions.
  • Supports the AR Team by providing coverage for vacations, customer queries and various other tasks, as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in commerce/management/accounting or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of receivables functions and processes
  • Able to handle simple account reconciliations and analysis including resolution of reconciling items
  • Familiarity with business systems software i.e.NetSuite
  • Good PC skills specifically using MS Excel (intermediate level), MS Word and Adobe.
