We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) Engineer to join our team. The SFE Engineer will be responsible for designing, operating, optimizing, and troubleshooting supercritical fluid extraction systems, primarily involving CO extraction. The role involves working on the extraction of high-value compounds (e.g., essential oils, nutraceuticals, cannabinoids, pharmaceuticals) from natural products and other matrices. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-pressure systems, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and analytical chemistry.
Role & responsibilities
- Operate and monitor supercritical CO extraction systems for optimal performance, yield, and safety.
- Design and develop SFE process parameters for different raw materials and desired end products.
- Optimise extraction conditions (pressure, temperature, co-solvents, flow rates) based on experimental data and scale-up requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and lab/pilot-scale trials for new extraction processes.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of extraction equipment.
- Interpret analytical data (GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, etc.) to assess extract purity and composition.
- Work with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to ensure process consistency and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO, or other relevant industry regulations.
- Prepare SOPs, batch records, process reports, and technical documentation.
- Participate in scale-up from lab to pilot and production scale.
We Value:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related fields.
- 25 years of hands-on experience in supercritical fluid extraction or high-pressure systems (CO preferred).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and phase behavior under supercritical conditions.
- Hands-on experience with high-pressure vessels and process instrumentation.
