Lead Engineer

Summary

This opening is for a GE90/GP TCF Module Mechanical Design Lead Engineer within the GE90/GP Engineering section at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center. Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems include activities linked to the technical improvement of existing products and components. You will be required to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team including but not limited to Supply chain, Assembly, Systems, Programs, Manufacturing Programs, Quality, Repairs, PSE, Materials, and other functional teams to achieve the desired outcome for the module.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

In this role, you will report to the GE90/GP Aft Engine LCE Design Sub-Section Manager, GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center. In addition, you will interface with organizations such as Engineering, MRO, supply chain, CEO, and services organization. As a Lead Engineer, your responsibility broadly includes:

• Independently own and execute GE90/GP TCF programs requiring design, analysis, test, or integration to define and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.
• Be the first point of contact from LCE on any query from sourcing/supplier/fleet/repair/customer.
• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
• Collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders on project status, business issues, and significant developments as appropriate.
• Responsible to support shops for Departure record resolution and shop visit cost reduction.
• Should network & establish strong connections with Commodity CTHs, Cross-functional teams viz. Shop, SC, Repair, MAE, CTPs, and Shop technical teams to achieve the desired outcomes for the module.
• Demonstrate clear thinking, strong technical articulation, and manage handoffs between different organizations.
• Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and customer commitments.
• Leverage digital tools & analyze the data insights to drive appropriate actions on ESM limit extensions, special procedures, etc.
• Adopt Lean in day-to-day work for process improvements.
• Demonstrate a collaborative work style and team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally.

• Bachelors/Masters Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Aviation Engines or Turbo machinery Engineering position (design, analysis, systems, services).
• Exposure to structures design and manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
• Strong design creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Familiarity with Turbine Center Frame module.
• Structures parts analysis, design & manufacturing experience.
• Previous experience in component hardware ownership role will be an added advantage.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
