Job Title

Assistant Professor – Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing

Qualification

  • M.Sc Nursing (Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing / Midwifery)
  • Must be registered with the State Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council (INC)
  • Ph.D in Nursing – Desirable

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of teaching and/or clinical experience after M.Sc Nursing
  • Experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology / Midwifery Nursing is mandatory

Job ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Duties

  • Plan and deliver theory and practical classes for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Nursing students
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and clinical teaching schedules
  • Guide students during clinical postings in antenatal wards, labour rooms, postnatal wards, OT, and community settings
  • Conduct and evaluate internal assessments, practical examinations, and viva voce
  • Mentor students for academic, clinical, and professional growth

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate students in clinical practice areas related to Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing
  • Demonstrate obstetric and gynecological nursing procedures ensuring maternal and newborn safety
  • Promote evidence-based, woman-centered, and family-centered nursing care

Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Participate in and guide UG/PG research projects and dissertations
  • Publish research articles in peer-reviewed journals
  • Attend and contribute to workshops, conferences, seminars, and FDPs

Administrative & Institutional Duties

  • Assist in curriculum development and syllabus revision
  • Maintain academic and clinical records as per INC / University norms
  • Participate in examinations, accreditation processes (INC, NAAC), and college committees
  • Support community outreach and maternal health programs

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Obstetrics & Gynaecology / Midwifery Nursing
  • Effective teaching, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to guide, mentor, and motivate students
  • Research orientation and professional ethics
  • Teamwork and leadership qualities

Reporting To

  • Head of Department / Principal / Dean
