ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and creatively driven
Senior Fashion Designer
with strong experience in designing for
international export markets (U.S./EU/UK)
. The ideal candidate brings a refined design sensibility, strong technical capability, and a deep understanding of global trends, buyer expectations, and product development cycles. They must be able to translate brand DNA into commercially successful collections with uncompromising quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design & Collection Development

• Create season-wise collections aligned with brand aesthetic and target export markets.
• Develop mood boards, inspiration stories, color palettes, and fabric directions.
• Design garments across categories—dresses, tops, resort wear, tunics, co-ords, etc.
• Interpret fashion trends into modern, wearable, commercially viable designs.
• Ensure designs reflect brand identity while meeting buyer expectations.

2. Export Market Knowledge

• Deep understanding of
  U.S., UK, and European markets
  , sizing, aesthetics, and seasonality.
• Study and analyze key retail platforms (e.g., Anthropologie, Shopbop, Nordstrom, Tuckernuck, Revolve).
• Awareness of competitor brands and best-sellers in export markets.
• Ability to design with buyer profiles and margin expectations in mind.

3. Technical & Product Development Skills

• Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric behavior.
• Ability to create detailed tech packs with measurements, trims, wash details, and artwork placements.
• Collaborate with sampling teams for protos, fit samples, PP samples, and bulk approvals.
• Provide clear corrections to achieve perfect fits and silhouettes.

4. Communication & Buyer Interaction

• Present collections to buyers with clarity and strong storytelling.
• Understand buyer feedback and convert it into actionable design revisions.
• Maintain professional communication with buyers, merchandisers, and production teams.

5. Trend Research & Forecasting

• Active research from WGSN, runway collections, trade shows, market visits, and social trends.
• Translate macro and micro trends into brand-aligned designs without losing commerciality.

6. Fabric, Print & Surface Design

• Strong ability to work with prints, embroideries, and surface textures.
• Develop artworks, repeats, and colorways for export buyers.
• Knowledge of natural fabrics (cotton, viscose, linen) and sustainable materials preferred.

7. Leadership & Cross-Team Collaboration

• Lead and mentor junior designers and interns.
• Coordinate effectively with sampling, merchandising, production, buying, and marketing teams.
• Manage timelines and ensure collections are delivered seasonally and accurately.

8. Attention to Detail & Quality Control

• Ensure design execution is flawless from sketch to final sample.
• Maintain brand consistency across all garments and collections.
• Proactively identify quality issues and work with the team to resolve them.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Skills

• Strong Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop proficiency
• Expertise in tech pack creation
• Understanding of garment construction and pattern corrections
• Print development (all-overs, placement prints)
• Fabric knowledge: cottons, linens, viscose, blends
• Ability to sketch (digital + hand)

Creative Skills

• Strong sense of color, proportion, and silhouette
• Ability to create cohesive, elevated collections
• Strong aesthetic intuition and storytelling capability
• Sensitivity to brand identity and target customer

Professional Skills

• Time management and handling multiple collections
• Problem-solving with sampling and production
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ownership mindset and accountability for design outcomes

Experience Requirements

• 7–9 years designing for
  export-focused fashion brands
• Experience with U.S. retail expectations a strong plus
• Experience in women's apparel preferred (resort, day dresses, contemporary wear)

• Experience designing for mid-premium export brands
• Knowledge of sustainability practices
• Exposure to trade shows / buyer meetings
• Strong eye for prints and storytelling visuals
