About the role:
As a Data Visualization Developer, you will be part of Data Visualization initiatives and support efforts to transform quality datasets into creative user-friendly dashboards that address business needs and drive informed decision making across the enterprise. We are seeking an individual who regularly partners with Business Unit and the Data Engineering team to decipher Data Visualization business needs.
As the Data Visualization Developer, you will support in working with large complex data sets to develop user tools, dashboards, and automatic report generation tools associated with product and solution performance, business operations, and data-driven decision-making. You will collaborate with Business Analysts to understand the business requirements and support team members and direct reports in refining and validating in-depth quantitative analysis to produce clear, detailed visualizations and facilitate informed decision-making.
Your position will align to the Data chapter of the ICC and report to the Data Visualization Lead under PDT Business Intelligence Pod.
How you will contribute:
- Develop and implement data visualization solutions, using tools such as Power BI according to the needs and requests of business stakeholders.
- Support the creation of the wireframes and ensure right flows and best practices for Data Visualization are followed for business stakeholders.
- Design and implement complex data visualizations, incorporating multiple data sources and optimizing performance for large-scale data sets.
- Ensure source data is being retrieved accurately, when utilizing programming functions (e.g., SQL, DAX, Python) for data visualization solutions, dashboards, and reports.
- SQL hands-on expertise to effectively implement data queries and analysis.
- Remain aware of emerging data visualization tools and technologies, apply data visualization best practices across solutions, tools, & techniques.
- Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data visualization solutions.
- Collaborate with Business Analyst & Lead Data Visualization Developer to translate gathered requirements into detailed technical specifications (targeted user stories) and understand how to apply business requirements to dashboards and reports, effectively meeting the asks from business partners.
- Utilize existing knowledge of the PDT data domain, understand data intricacies, identify data deficiencies, and manage the data catalogue.
- Manage communications and deliver reports to a wider stakeholder audience.
- Possess strong business acumen with knowledge of the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, or Life Sciences sector is preferred, but not required.
- Illustrate experience of creating interactive and visually appealing dashboards, reports, and visualizations leveraging Power BI.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, trusting team members to deliver results.
- Possess strong data-driven decision-making skills, ability to prioritize projects, resource allocation, and conflict resolution when challenges arise within data visualization projects.
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and ethical behaviour, while ensuring that sensitive information is handled responsibly and in compliance with regulations.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders, evaluates the outcomes of their decisions, and reflects on lessons learned for future decisions.
- Be passionate about re-imagining new solutions, processes, and end-user experience by leveraging digital and disruptive technologies and developing visualization solutions.
- Show advanced expertise in integrating disparate data sets seamlessly, understanding and applying data integration techniques.
- Demonstrate expertise in advanced analytical techniques to uncover insights and patterns in large, complex data sets using features within Power Bi.
- Display an action-oriented mindset when analysing data challenges, identifying root causes, and proposing potential solutions.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Visualization/Power BI developer or a similar role, with a portfolio showcasing your work
- Strong understanding of refining, developing, and testing reports to meet business and stakeholder needs
- Experience of data modelling with ability to design and implement robust data models that support visualization requirements
- Demonstrated understanding and experience using:
- Power BI
- Relational SQL databases
- Databricks/ETL
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling and interacting effectively within team
- Ability to negotiate the scope of the problem through a business lens, leveraging data visualization solutions
- Expertise working with large, complex data sets and drawing useful insights from data crunching and manipulation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling and interacting effectively with multifunctional teams and other strategic partners
- Highly self-motivated, ability to act independently and execute deliveries while being in an agile environment
Preferred requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- Experience in data warehousing, and data integration concepts
- Demonstrated understanding and experience using:
- Data Engineering Programming Languages (i.e., Qlik, SQL, Python)
- Power-Bi co-pilot
- Experience in a global working environment
- Access to transportation to attend meetings
- Ability to fly to meetings regionally and globally
