Job Summary

The Junior Billing & Estimation Civil Engineer will support the project team in all aspects of cost estimation, quantity surveying, and billing processes for real estate construction projects. This entry-level role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial tracking, compliance with contract terms, and effective cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimation and Quantity Surveying:
  • Assist in preparing
    detailed quantity estimates
    and
    Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
    based on architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and project scope.
  • Learn and conduct
    rate analysis
    for various construction activities (material, labor, machinery) based on market rates and Schedule of Rates (SOR/DSR).
  • Aid in preparing preliminary estimates for new proposals.
  • Billing and Invoicing:
  • Prepare and process
    Running Account (RA) bills
    for subcontractors and vendors based on verified site measurements.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of
    client bills
    as per the contractual BOQ and payment terms.
  • Maintain and record site measurements in
    Measurement Books (MB)
    or digital formats, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant IS Codes/standards.
  • Cost Control and Documentation:
  • Support the preparation of
    material reconciliation reports
    (e.g., steel, cement) to track consumption against theoretical usage and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist in identifying and preparing documentation for
    extra/non-tender items
    and any potential variation claims.
  • Organize and maintain all essential billing, estimation, and contract documentation for easy retrieval and auditing.
  • Coordination and Compliance:
  • Coordinate with the Site Engineering, Planning, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment between work progress, material consumption, and billing.
  • Ensure all financial documentation and billing practices adhere to company policies and contractual requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:
    Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in
    Civil Engineering
    or Construction Management.
  • Technical Skills (Must have familiarity with):
  • Proficiency in
    MS Excel
    for calculation and reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction
    blueprints and technical drawings
    (AutoCAD knowledge is a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of quantity surveying principles and construction materials.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical
    and mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent
    attention to detail
    and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team coordination.
