Role Summary:

As the Manager - Structures & DfAM, you will lead, mentor and contribute a dedicated group of mechanical and aerospace engineers to deliver innovative and high-quality projects on time, within budget, and with optimal resource allocation. You will drive design excellence, integrate engineering best practices, and ensure rigorous adherence to mechanical engineering principles across all projects while collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders. This role is pivotal in driving innovation and continuously improving design and development processes in line with strategic organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Team Leadership
  • Contribute to, supervise, motivate, and develop a team of mechanical and aerospace engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring that all team members work cohesively towards project objectives.
• Project Management
  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle—from conceptual design through implementation—ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Implement robust project management methodologies to track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues promptly
  • Conduct periodic progress reviews and adjust resource allocation as necessary to mitigate risks and overcome challenges.
• Technical Oversight
  • Direct the design, simulation, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems and structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure that engineering practices such as DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly), Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Optimization methodologies and quality control processes are rigorously applied.
  • Drive design trade-offs and decision-making processes to balance performance, cost, and reliability.
• Quality Assurance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all projects exceed customer expectations through rigorous adherence to quality standards.
  • Establish robust risk assessment and mitigation protocols to address challenges proactively throughout project lifecycles.
• Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, software, production, quality assurance) to ensure integrated project execution.
  • Engage with external stakeholders—including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies—to align project requirements and secure necessary resources and approvals.
  • Represent the team in technical forums and strategic meetings to communicate project progress and innovation initiatives.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement.
  • Champion innovative solutions and emerging technologies that enhance system performance and competitive advantage.
  • Lead initiatives to refine development processes, ensuring continuous improvement in project execution and quality outcomes.

Preference

• Strong foundation in core mechanical principles such as statics, dynamics, fluids, thermodynamics and material science.
• Experience in the conceptualization, design, optimization, testing and flight qualification of aerospace structures, both metallic and composites.
• Experience in undertaking the design, simulation and validation of thermal systems for aerospace applications.
• Familiarity with Additive Manufacturing technologies, such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and hands on experience in undertaking Topology Optimization and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).
• Hands on experience with Design, Engineering and Simulation tools (e.g. SolidWorks, UG NX, CATIA, , ANSYS, Altair HyperWorks, Simufact)
• Intimate knowledge on the global best practices and standards for the design and flight certification of Aerospace Structures and Components, such as for Launch Vehicles, Satellites or Spacecrafts.
