Director, Project Finance (New Delhi)

Role Overview
The Director, Project Finance will play a senior leadership role within GIA's Project Finance and Transaction Advisory practice. The role involves leading complex project finance and M&A advisory mandates across the power, water, and broader infrastructure sectors, advising sponsors, investors, lenders, and public-sector counterparties.
The Director will be responsible for originating and executing transactions, leading client engagements, overseeing financial analysis and structuring, and mentoring junior team members. Over time, the role is expected to progress into a regional and transaction leadership position within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Leadership & Execution
- Act as transaction lead and primary client interface on project finance and M&A advisory mandates from early development or bid stage through to financial close.
- Lead end-to-end execution of advisory mandates, including engagement structuring, transaction timetables, coordination of internal teams, and management of external advisors.
- Provide independent financial, commercial, and strategic advice on thestructuring of debt, equity, guarantees, PPPs, and hybrid financing solutions.
Financial & Commercial Advisory
- Oversee, review, and challenge financial models, valuations, and sensitivity analyses, ensuring bankability and alignment with lender and investor requirements.
- Conduct and coordinate commercial, financial, and risk due diligence, identifying key risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Advise clients on optimising project economics, including capital structure, tax considerations, accounting treatment, and competitive bid strategies.
- Support clients during credit committee, investment committee, and board approval processes, including preparation of investment memoranda and presentations.
Documentation & Stakeholder Management
- Review, comment on, and support negotiation of project and financing documentation, assessing contractual and commercial implications from a project finance perspective.
- Assist clients in managing relationships with lenders, DFIs, investors, offtakers, EPC contractors, and government entities.
- Support debt raising processes, including lender engagement, market soundings, financing strategy, and coordination through to financial close.
Team Leadership & Business Development
- Mentor, train, and manage junior team members, ensuring high-quality analytical outputs and professional development.
- Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and identification of new advisory opportunities.
- Maintain and share knowledge of market trends, precedent transactions, and best practices in infrastructure finance and advisory.
Post-Transaction Support
- Mentor, train, and manage junior team members, ensuring high-quality analytical outputs and professional development.
- Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and identification of new advisory opportunities.
- Maintain and share knowledge of market trends, precedent transactions, and best practices in infrastructure finance and advisory.
Location & Mobility
The role will be based in GIA's New Delhi office. The successful candidate must be willing and able to relocate to the GCC within 6 to 12 months, subject to business requirements and regional growth needs.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Candidates should meet several of the following criteria:
- A graduate degree in finance, economics, engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- A professional qualification such as CA, CFA, or an MBA from a top-tier institution.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in project finance advisory, investment banking, infrastructure
- Fluency in English; Arabic and/or Chinese language skills are an advantage.
- Prior experience with an advisory firm, investment bank, infrastructure fund, IPP, or utility, with strong transaction exposure; MENA/GCC experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, transaction structuring, and client-facing advisory engagements.
- Strong commercial judgement, communication, and senior stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic and/or Chinese language skills are an advantage.
