Machine Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance of power press machines (Mechanical/Hydraulic).
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out timely repairs.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace worn-out parts, bearings, bushes, springs, and mechanical components.
  • Ensure proper lubrication of machine parts as per standard schedules.

2. Machine Setup & Calibration

  • Assist in machine installation, alignment, and calibration.
  • Set and adjust mechanical clearances, stroke length, and bolster height as required.
  • Ensure machine settings meet production and quality standards.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all machines comply with safety standards and protection devices (guards, interlocks, etc.).
  • Report unsafe conditions or potential risks to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily maintenance logs and breakdown reports.
  • Record spare parts usage and inform the supervisor for replenishment.
  • Support audits related to machine maintenance and safety.

5. Coordination & Support

  • Coordinate with production teams to understand machine issues.
  • Support tool room & production teams during die changeover and machine troubleshooting.
  • Assist in training operators for basic machine handling and safety practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

  • ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of experience in maintenance of power press machines (mechanical/hydraulic).
  • Experience in stamping, press shop, or manufacturing industry preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of power press mechanics (20–250 ton or as per company setup).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance practices.

Key Competencies:

  • Problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in breakdown situations.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
