Welder

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Prepare and clean metal surfaces and materials for welding.
• Use a variety of welding methods like MIG, TIG, and arc welding to join metal parts.
• Cut and shape metal to required sizes and specifications using various tools.
• Inspect and test welds to ensure they meet quality standards and are free from defects.
• Operate heavy machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Coordinate with other workers, such as fabricators and fitters, to complete projects.

Skills and qualifications

• Proficiency in different welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick welding, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and metal properties.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, sometimes at heights.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
