Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (Project Costing) to lead project-based costing, risk analysis, and cost control activities. This role requires strong technical costing methodologies, deep understanding of commercial risks, and the ability to align project execution with financial efficiency. The position demands close collaboration with engineering, procurement, finance, and contracts teams to ensure competitive bids and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Estimation & Methodologies

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including materials, labor, services, and testing/commissioning.
• Apply should-costing, zero-based costing, and parametric costing methodologies to improve cost accuracy.
• Maintain and enhance cost models and databases for consistent, reliable project estimation.

2. Commercial Risk & Contract Understanding

• Identify and analyze commercial risks such as escalation clauses, forex exposure, liquidated damages, warranties, and payment terms.
• Ensure cost models fully account for contractual obligations (e.g., INCOTERMS, penalty clauses, retention terms).
• Provide risk mitigation recommendations during bid and execution phases.

3. Bid & Proposal Support

• Prepare techno-commercial proposals, ensuring alignment between technical scope and cost models.
• Collaborate with procurement and contracts teams to review vendor quotes, align with bid terms, and ensure competitive positioning.
• Support client interactions and negotiations with clear cost insights.

4. Project Cost Control & Monitoring

• Track actual project costs against estimates and report variances.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Generate cost performance reports including earned value analysis (EVA) and cash flow projections.

5. Vendor & Supply Chain Costing

• Perform technical and commercial bid evaluations (TBE + CBE) for major electrical packages (switchgear, transformers, cables, etc.).
• Apply should-costing to vendor quotes and support procurement in negotiations.
• Identify supply chain risks and develop cost mitigation strategies.

6. Collaboration & Mentoring

• Work cross-functionally with project managers, design engineers, contracts, and finance to integrate cost considerations into decision-making.
• Mentor junior engineers on costing techniques, risk awareness, and cost control practices.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Maintain a repository of cost benchmarks, lessons learned, and vendor performance data.
• Drive adoption of digital costing tools and ERP integration for accuracy and efficiency.
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen cost competitiveness and risk management.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's or certifications in Cost Engineering/Project Management (CCP, PMP) preferred.

Experience:
6 - 8 years in cost estimation, project costing, or cost engineering roles, preferably within electrical engineering, EPC, or infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills:
o Expertise in costing methodologies (should-costing, zero-based costing, parametric). o Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and cost estimation tools. o Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and project controls.

Commercial Knowledge:
Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, payment structures, LD clauses, risk allocation, forex exposure, and tax structures.

Soft Skills:
Analytical mindset, attention to detail, negotiation skills, strong communication, and leadership in mentoring teams.
