What's the role

As a Technical Consultant/SME for SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), your primary responsibility is to deliver technical solutions and accurate estimations for BTP development initiatives. You will lead the integration of various internal and external service components into cohesive, end-to-end services that generate value for Shell. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align business requirements with SAP BTP capabilities, offering strategic direction to ensure successful implementation and ongoing support of BTP solutions.

A key aspect of your role is to help maintain cost neutrality within Competency Centers and Centers of Excellence, while delivering top-tier technology services for application development and infrastructure enhancements. You'll also contribute to resource and portfolio planning for technical services, ensuring that cost recovery models support both sustainability and financial efficiency.

What you'll be doing

• Serve as a subject matter expert in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), leading solution design, effort estimation, and ensuring high-quality delivery of technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team, guiding them through delivery best practices and ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Drive functional excellence by partnering with Application Development Management (ADM) to implement standardized methods and quality assurance frameworks, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee and manage projects and programs, coaching team members to achieve successful outcomes while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Lead business simplification initiatives in close collaboration with business interface teams, ensuring streamlined and value-driven solutions.
• Handle complex integration scenarios across on-premise, S/4 cloud, and legacy systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow.
• Engage regularly with senior business leadership (EC-2 and EC-3 levels), providing insights, updates, and strategic recommendations.

What you bring

• 13+ years of robust SAP experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on expertise in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline
• Strong experience in SAP BTP implementation projects, with deep knowledge of Fiori, workflow extensibility, and S4 side-by-side development on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry (CF)
• Proven technical leadership and solution design capabilities, with a track record of building optimized, scalable, and maintainable applications
• Up-to-date knowledge of the latest SAP BTP services, including SAP Build tools, SAP AI Core, and SAP AI Launchpad, as well as related emerging technologies
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Commitment to maintaining code quality, adhering to best practices, and enforcing development guidelines
• Ability to coordinate with Portfolio and Architecture teams to analyze feedback and enhance service offerings
• Experience working closely with business stakeholders and product owners, providing technical insights and accurate cost estimations for end-to-end solution delivery
• Strategic mindset with the ability to drive innovation and leverage SAP BTP capabilities to deliver business value
• Preferred experience in S/4HANA in-app extensibility, CDS views, Native HANA, and SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).
• Hands-on solutioning, Knowledge of BTP Landscape, Cost Optimized solution strategy on BTP.
• Knowledge of S/4 HANA Launchpad, Security Guidelines, S/4 Fiori Guidelines.
