Assistant/Associate Professor – Mass Communication

Department: Journalism & Mass Communication

Location: NIILM University, Kaithal, Haryana

Job Type: Full-time | Regular

Joining Date: Immediate

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's Degree (M.A/M.Sc/MJMC) in Mass Communication, Journalism, or Media Studies from a recognized university.
  • Ph.D. in Mass Communication/Journalism preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching, research, or relevant industry experience in media, journalism, digital media, or related fields.
  • Strong academic record; publications in reputed journals will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates should meet UGC norms as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mass Communication & Journalism.
  • Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with current media trends, content production, and communication practices.
  • Guide students in academic research, media projects, film/documentary production, and internships.
  • Engage in research and publish in reputed journals and media platforms.
  • Conduct practical lab sessions in reporting, editing, film making, radio production, digital content creation, and PR.
  • Mentor students for career preparation in media, advertising, film, and digital communication.
  • Organize industry expert sessions, media workshops, press visits, and student media activities.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees and academic initiatives.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Expertise in journalism, digital media, video production, PR, advertising, or media communication.
  • Hands-on experience with editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition, FCP, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of newsroom workflows, digital marketing, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and content development skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with media industry for projects and student placements.

Pay Scale

₹30,000 – ₹70,000 per month (commensurate with qualifications & experience).
