Key responsibilities
Patient preparation: Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-operative checks and hygiene protocols like cleaning surgical sites.
Operating room management: Ensure the operating room is clean, sterile, and well- stocked with necessary instruments and supplies before each procedure.
Surgical assistance: Assist the surgeon and anesthesiologist during operations by anticipating their needs and providing instruments and other supplies.
Patient monitoring: Monitor the patient's vital signs and overall condition during surgery and respond to emergencies.
Post-operative care: Provide post-operative care and ensure the patient is safely transported to the recovery area.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and document all surgical procedures and care provided.
Adherence to protocols: Ensure strict adherence to infection control, asepsis, and safety protocols at all times.
Team collaboration: Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nursing staff, to provide a coordinated approach to patient care.
Training and supervision: Supervise and train other staff members, such as nurse aides and cleaners, as directed.
Inventory control: Manage and control the stock of instruments, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient use.
