Delhi, Delhi, India PRS Legislative Research Full time

The duration of the internship is flexible, but typically lasts between four and eight weeks. Interns are expected to report to office for the internship, and there are no remote work options. Please note that no accommodation or remuneration will be provided to interns. This is strictly an unpaid internship .

PRS s work is guided by issues taken up in Parliament, and interns are expected to work with analysts on various research tasks, or with the outreach team to assist with legislator engagement, media output, or the Student Parliament programme. Based on the intern s specific skills and abilities, they may be assigned work as a (i) research intern, (ii) data intern, or (iii) design intern. (See below for specific skills expected in each category.)

The successful completion of a PRS internship requires the intern to pursue and complete an internship project. Interns may choose a project topic of their liking, in consultation with PRS team members.

Expectations from interns

All interns should have a deep interest in the working of Parliament and the legislative process in India. In addition, an intern should have the following:

(i) analytical and problem solving skills; (ii) strong writing skills; and (iii) proficiency in basic data handling using Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets Data interns: (i) be well-versed with one or more of these programming languages Python/Java/C++/Javascript; and (ii) have exposure or prior experience in data scraping, wrangling, pre-processing, analysis, and visualisation, and/or applying machine learning techniques.
: Basic understanding of design principles and familiarity with visualising data and text. Prior experience working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar software will be a plus. The following documents must be submitted: write a short statement of purpose (not more than 500 words) upload an up-to-date resume in PDF format - upload a writing sample on any policy issue (not more than 1000 words) in PDF format, or a relevant design work sample (up to two pages) in PDF format.
