EdTech Telecounsellor
We are seeking a dynamic Tele-Counsellor with 3–5 years' experience, a strong background in selling online courses, and a solid track record of conversions. The ideal candidate must be fluent in English and the state language, be comfortable in a virtual/remote counselling environment, and have the skills to conduct ~35-minute career-counselling sessions that both guide the learner and lead the enrolment process. You will act as both a trusted career advisor and a conversion specialist: mapping career goals, presenting the right course options, and driving enrolments. You'll be comfortable working with digital tools, CRM systems and video/voice-based counselling.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inbound and outbound counselling sessions (approx. 35 minutes each) with prospective learners (and/or their families) in English + state language, in a virtual setting (video call, voice call, chat, as required).
- Perform depth career-needs analysis: understand educational background, work experience (if professional), career aspirations, barriers (time, budget, format), preferred learning style (online only/blended/hybrid).
- Present relevant online courses and learning pathways, emphasising how each aligns to the learner's career goals, outcomes and ROI.
- Persuade & motivate the prospective learner to enrol: handle objections, explain value-proposition, lay out payment/financing options, clarify onboarding and course structure.
- Achieve monthly/quarterly conversion targets (leads → enrolments) with focus on quality of interaction and closing rate.
- Manage the full virtual counselling lifecycle: schedule sessions, prepare pre-counselling materials (if any), conduct the session, follow-up with documentation, offer enrolment closing support, and log outcomes.
- Use CRM and other digital tools to log all interactions, track status of leads, schedule follow-ups, escalate issues and provide reports.
- Collaborate with marketing to feedback on lead quality, campaign performance and messaging effectiveness; collaborate with onboarding/student-success teams to ensure smooth transition from enrolment to active student.
- Stay updated on the online-education market, competitor offerings, new course formats/technologies, and adjust counselling approach accordingly.
- Demonstrate high tech-comfort: using video conferencing tools, screen-sharing, digital product demos, virtual platforms and remote collaboration.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree (any discipline); relevant certifications in counselling, sales or education is a plus.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in tele-counselling or inside sales/admissions specifically in the online courses / EdTech sector (selling online/virtual programmes).
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales/enrolment conversion targets for online courses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and the state language (mandatory).
- Strong interpersonal skills: active listening, empathic counselling, persuasive presentation, objection management.
- Tech-savvy: comfortable operating in a remote/virtual environment, using video calls, digital demonstrations, online scheduling, CRM tools, and virtual collaboration.
- Organised, methodical in managing ~35 minute sessions, scheduling, follow-ups and lead pipelines.
- Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency, comfortable working with metrics/KPIs.
- Adaptable: able to counsel different learner segments (fresh graduates, working professionals, career changers) and adjust tone accordingly.
- Ethical mindset: you guide learners genuinely on career paths, not just high-pressure sales.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience specifically in career counselling or educational counselling (not only sales) in an online learning context.
- Working knowledge of analytic dashboards, conversion funnel metrics, lead-scoring, and improvements to counselling scripts/process.
- Additional regional language(s).
- Familiarity with the specific career/education landscape of your target region (e.g., postgraduate up-skilling, certifications, working professional learning paths).
- Remote-work experience: proven ability to perform effectively in virtual/remote environments with minimal supervision.
What We Offer
- A meaningful role where you directly impact learners' career journeys and professional lives.
- Training and development in career counselling, virtual engagement and EdTech sales.
- Competitive compensation: attractive base salary plus performance-linked bonus/commission tied to enrolment & conversion targets.
- Flexible/remote-friendly working environment with modern digital tools.
- Growth path: senior counsellor → team lead → student-success manager or operations.
