Role Profile

Role Title: Digital Identity Architect

Reports to: Architecture Manager

Context:

The customer's Digital stack provides self-serve e-commerce and in-life management experiences to our Consumer and Enterprise customers. These experiences are delivered across web, native app, chatbot, and telephony channels — all relying on a central OpenID Connect IDP to provide consistent login and logout experiences and federated session management (i.e., Single Sign-On (SSO) and Single Logout (SLO)) across these channels securely.

Role Purpose:

As a Senior IDAM Architect, you will focus on Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM)— specifically on federated authentication and identity data management solutions.

You will:

  • Assess new demands and provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates.
  • Lead end-to-end solution design from concept to delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners (POs), Technical Product Owners (TPOs), senior developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support delivery teams in resolving complex production issues.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the customer's Digital Identity strategy and principles.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with product owners and the wider technology community to review and update customer authentication and CIAM strategy.
  • Assess new business demands and provide ROM estimates based on documented high-level requirements.
  • Work with POs, UX, and engineering teams to identify end-to-end functional requirements and non-functional requirements (NFRs) for new authentication features.
  • Lead the design and planning for complex feature deliveries with a focus on small, incremental releases.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to the AWS/Azure Well-Architected Framework, particularly around security, resilience, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Safeguard the integrity and reusability of solutions throughout their lifecycle.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and propose solutions for issues found during delivery or in live service.

Competencies:-

Essential:

  • Deep understanding of Federated Identity Management and security concepts (e.g., JIT Provisioning, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, OAuth2, RFC 8176, etc.) and their real-world application.
  • Experience designing and implementing federated identity solutions for large-scale B2C or B2B use cases.
  • Strong knowledge of microservice and micro-frontend architectures for cloud-based platforms.
  • Expertise in REST API standards and design.
  • Proficient in applying the AWS/Azure Well-Architected Framework for secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Skilled in solution design using UML or C4 Model (Context, Containers, Components & Code).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies (LEAN, Scrum, Kanban).

Desired:

  • Experience working within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and understanding Value Stream-aligned delivery.
  • Experience designing and building TM Forum–compliant APIs.
  • Understanding of event-based architecture concepts.
  • Familiarity with .NET / Java + Node & React, or similar JavaScript-based technologies.
