We are automating our invoice processing workflow. Currently, our data entry team manually extracts information from invoices in various formats from multiple vendors.

The ideal candidate will architect and build our invoice processing system from the ground up using AWS AI services. After building the foundation, there s an opportunity to grow into ML optimization or lead additional AI projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a production-ready AWS architecture (Textract, Lambda, S3, Step Functions).
  • Build a scalable document processing pipeline that supports multiple invoice formats.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and error-handling infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipeline setup.
  • Develop REST APIs for integration with existing database (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Implement data extraction and validation logic.
  • Build a confidence scoring system for auto-approval routing.
  • Create data-matching algorithms to map extracted fields.
  • Partner with the frontend team on API contracts and integrations.
  • Work with the operations team to understand the extraction requirements.
  • Document architecture, APIs, and system workflows.

Must-Have:

  • 2-5 years AWS production experience.
  • Strong Python or backend development.
  • Built and deployed REST APIs in production.
  • Database design and integration (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Understanding of serverless architecture concepts.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with AWS Textract, Rekognition, or similar OCR services.
  • Worked with Step Functions or workflow orchestration.
  • Previous document processing or OCR projects.
  • CI/CD pipeline setup and deployment automation.

Nice to Have (Bonus Points):

  • AWS SageMaker or Amazon A2I experience.
  • EventBridge, SQS, or SNS for event-driven architecture.
  • Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
  • Experience with data visualization or analytics.

Soft Skills:

  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset for ambiguous requirements.
  • Ability to explain technical decisions to the operations team.
