Role & responsibilities

1. Laboratory Operations & Quality Control

  • Supervise and perform analyses in Water, Oil, Coal, and Environmental laboratories using sophisticated modern instruments such as:

    UV Spectrophotometer, DR2010 Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Bomb Calorimeter, Orsat Apparatus, Flash Point Detector, Viscosity Meter, CHNS Analyzer, AAS, Gas Chromatograph, etc.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of raw water, filter water, potable water, DM water, condensate, effluent, cooling water, lube and fuel oil, and coal samples.
  • Maintain calibration, standardization, and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Prepare and maintain all analytical data, records, and reports (daily, monthly, and annual).

2. Operation & Maintenance of Water Treatment Facilities

  • Operate and monitor DM Plant & RO Plant (Capacity: 283 m/hr) with components such as ACF, SAC, SBA, MB, PSF, UF, RO, MB Series.
  • Supervise Hydrogen Generation Unit (Capacity: 5 m/hr) and Sodium Hypochlorite Generation Unit (Capacity: 6 m/hr).
  • Manage Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU) and Pretreatment Water System (TTP Nordic, Sweden).
  • Ensure effective Cooling Water Treatment, ETP, STP, and Boiler Water Treatment programs.
  • Oversee Ash (Fly & Bottom) analysis, lube & fuel oil analysis, and chemical monitoring and control.

3. Chemical Handling & Budgeting

  • Manage safe handling, storage, and dosing of bulk chemicals such as Alum, Lime, Chlorine Gas, Acid, Ammonia, Hydrazine, and Tri-Sodium Phosphate.
  • Prepare and monitor annual WTP budget, including cost optimization and inventory control.
  • Test and verify purity of incoming chemicals and ensure safe loading/unloading and dosing operations.

4. Environmental Compliance & Monitoring

  • Conduct environmental parameter monitoring and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Coordinate with relevant government agencies and regulatory bodies for inspections and audits.
  • Represent the company in joint sampling and analysis at mines and rakes.

5. Manpower & Contractor Management

  • Effectively plan, organize, and supervise WTP & lab manpower for smooth plant operations.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards within the department.
  • Organize, coordinate, and control outsourced preventive/reactive maintenance contractors.
  • Prepare technical specifications and documents for tenders and procurement related to WTP and laboratory equipment.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit detailed Daily, Monthly, and Annual Reports on water chemistry, treatment efficiency, and plant performance.
  • Maintain all operational records, logbooks, and chemical inventory. Participate in annual planning, audits, and performance reviews.

Preferred candidate profile

M.Sc Chemistry or B.Tech/B.E. Chemical qualified with 8-15 Years Experience in Water Treatment Plant (Thermal Power Plant)
