Officially, this is what you'll be called:
Senior Design Manager

But this is what you'll really do:
Be at the centre of projects at the intersection of branding and design. If you're interested in brands and love tackling brand-related issues from a strategic and creative perspective, this is the place for you. A good grasp of design is an added plus, although you can pick this up as you go along. You'll be dealing with brand managers on a daily basis (which also means you'll be in the firing line) and coordinating with the design team to create design solutions that work. You'll also be closely involved in the running of the day-to-day affairs at Icarus, and responsible for the output that is delivered to the clients. Coordination is only part of the role - you'll have to attend meetings, make presentations, brief designers, articulate and express brand ideas and concepts; as well as go shopping, talk to consumers and do secondary research on brands. Copy writing and visualization skills are an added plus Being part of a flat organization, we'll need you to be versatile, adaptable and flexible – willing to don multiple hats and straddle across multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

• Interface with clients on a day-to-day basis regarding handling and delivery of projects.

• Handle independently smaller projects right from the briefing stage to the final delivery. With time, take on such roles for bigger projects as well.

• Pre-sales and sales support: Be part of brand strategy and definition exercises in projects that call for the same. Drafting proposals and assisting in approach presentations.

• Checking of the final output delivered to clients – in terms of design as well as other details.

• With time, also start taking some design calls keeping client requirements in mind.

• Coordinate with directors/managers/senior designers to ensure timely execution of deliverables.

• Articulate and express brand ideas and concepts in due course of time.

• Establish a rapport with the internal team as well as brand managers to help enhance Icarus' reputation with time.

Assist in design/brand research when required:

• Primary Research including interviewing people and making observations

• Secondary Research such as from the internet and from talking to people

• Creating stimulus for Research

• Synthesizing Design Research material

• Hypothesizing new ideas

• Maybe part of initial creative design concepts

• Running innovation workshops for clients

• Creating Briefs

Qualifications:
Graduate (Any Stream), MBA (Marketing / Marketing Communications). Any degree in design or design management – preferable. Might not be applicable for candidates with relevant experience.

Experience:
Ideally, 2-3 years experience in a client-facing and/or brand strategy role in a creative /marketing driven organization.

Any other requirements:
Good communication skills and command of English. Interest in the field of design. It would help if you were highly collaborative as well as detail oriented.

Hours and environment:
Expectation to work flexibly to support project deadlines. This may include evening and weekend work. Travel frequently for Research or client meetings.

Salary:
Negotiable
