Job Summary

The Billing Clerk is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate patient billing records in line with hospital policies. The role ensures proper charging of services, timely submission of bills to patients/insurance/TPAs, and efficient handling of billing queries to support smooth revenue cycle management.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Billing & Invoicing

  • Prepare and issue bills for outpatient, inpatient, diagnostics, and procedures.
  • Accurately record charges for consultations, lab tests, pharmacy, surgeries, room rent, and other hospital services.
  • Verify insurance/TPA approvals before raising bills.

Payment Collection & Processing

  • Collect payments (cash, card, UPI, cheque, online transfer) and issue receipts.
  • Reconcile daily cash/collections and hand over to the accounts department.
  • Monitor pending payments and follow up with patients or insurance providers.

Insurance & TPA Coordination

  • Assist patients with insurance-related documentation and claims.
  • Submit bills to insurance companies/TPAs for settlement.
  • Track claim status and coordinate for approvals or rejections.

Record Keeping & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate patient billing records in hospital billing software.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, financial protocols, and statutory regulations (GST, TDS, etc.).
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality while handling billing information.

Customer Service

  • Handle patient and attendant queries regarding billing.
  • Provide clear explanations of charges and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous approach to enhance patient experience.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Good knowledge of hospital billing processes and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in hospital billing software and MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment with patience and empathy.

Qualification & Experience

  • Graduate in Commerce / Accounts / Finance (preferred).
  • 1–3 years of experience in hospital billing or healthcare accounts.
  • Freshers with strong accounting knowledge and computer skills may also be considered.

Work Environment

  • Based at the hospital billing/finance department.
  • Requires rotational shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12, ₹25,000.00 per month
