Role & responsibilities:

As the Civil Design Manager at a managerial level in our solar company, you will lead the civil and structural design aspects of solar power projects. You will be responsible for designing and reviewing foundations, module mounting structures, cable trenches, inverter foundations, and other civil components of ground-mounted solar plants. This role demands strong technical expertise in civil and structural engineering, leadership in managing design deliverables, and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Civil Design and Development:

  • Lead and oversee the civil and structural design for ground-mounted solar projects.
  • Prepare and review general arrangement drawings, foundation layouts, drainage, roads, boundary walls, and other site infrastructure.
  • Ensure all civil designs comply with relevant codes, standards (IS, NBC, BIS), and local regulations.
  • Optimize civil designs for cost-effectiveness, durability, and constructability.
  • Conduct design validation for soil conditions, contour, and topographical features.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project, electrical, and procurement teams to ensure design alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Support pre-bid and post-bid engineering by preparing preliminary layouts, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and site teams to resolve design and execution-related issues.
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with approved designs.

Innovation and Technology Integration:

  • Evaluate new materials, foundation methods, and design tools to enhance performance and sustainability.
  • Implement digital tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and geotechnical analysis software) to improve design accuracy and efficiency.
  • Recommend innovative design solutions to reduce project costs and improve project timelines.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in civil engineering (Masters degree preferred).
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil design and engineering within solar or renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of ground-mounted solar plant civil worksincluding geotechnical studies, foundation design, and drainage systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Civil 3D, and related design tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant IS codes, NBC, BIS, and structural design standards.
  • Ability to interpret topographical surveys, soil reports, and structural drawings.
  • Proven track record in managing pre-bid and post-bid civil design deliverables.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
