About the institution: A nationally accredited (NABH) 500-bed teaching hospital and major healthcare provider in the North East region, dedicated to world-class medical care. Established decades ago, it operates numerous general and super specialties with 24x7 advanced services.

About the department: The well-established Department of Nephrology has been functional for over a decade. The department is equipped with essential infrastructure, including a fully operational, state-of-the-art Dialysis Unit with modern Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis facilities. It is supported by a large, multi-specialty Intensive Care complex. Diagnostic and interventional services include renal biopsies, native and allograft ultrasonography, and support for vascular access procedures. The department currently manages a high volume of inpatient and outpatient cases annually, including chronic kidney disease (CKD) management and pre/post-transplant care.

Mandatory qualifications: DM Nephrology or DNB-SS Nephrology. The degree must be recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Key experience and technical expertise

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience post-mandatory qualifications (DM Nephrology or DNB-SS Nephrology) is required.

Exceptional Candidates: Candidates with 1-4 years of experience prior to obtaining the mandatory qualifications, and at least 1 year of experience post-mandatory qualifications, will be considered.

Technical Proficiency (Subject-Specific Expertise): Extensive documented experience in performing a wide range of medical and interventional nephrology procedures, including and emphasizing the departmental offerings such as:

  • Comprehensive management of acute kidney injury (AKI) and all stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • Expertise in various Renal Replacement Therapies (RRT), including Hemodialysis (HD), Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
  • Documented experience in performing and interpreting image-guided Renal Biopsies.
  • Management of difficult-to-treat hypertension, electrolyte and acid-base disorders, and Glomerular diseases.
  • Involvement in the work-up and post-operative management of Renal Transplant recipients.

Clinical Leadership: Experience in leading clinical teams, departmental development, and managing renal emergencies in a care setting.

Academic Focus: Relevant work experience and active participation in academic activities within recognised universities, medical colleges, or teaching hospital environments is a key area of focus.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership for the Nephrology Department, working to lead and strengthen comprehensive renal services.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency nephrology procedures and interventions (24x7 support).
  • Offer comprehensive renal consultant services to Outpatient Department (OPD) and inpatient admissions.
  • Manage critical care patients with renal dysfunction within the Intensive Care complex and Dialysis Unit.
  • Contribute to clinical training, research, and departmental development initiatives24.

Compensation and benefits

Remuneration: Highly competitive salary package ranging from approximately 4,00,000 to 8,00,000 INR per month, commensurate with experience26. The package includes a retention bonus that will be paid at the end of the 1st year and 2nd year tenure. The successful candidate will also be eligible for variable pay - Clinical Incentive.
