About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager / Technical Program Lead to oversee a critical engineering function. You will lead a high-performing team of 10-15 engineers, driving technical strategy, project execution, and customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on technical expertise, deep domain knowledge in networking and security, and proven leadership and customer-facing skills. You will be the key liaison between business stakeholders and the engineering team, ensuring our technical solutions meet complex business requirements with efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Management (50%)
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of 10-15 software engineers, providing mentorship, performance reviews, career development, and technical guidance.
- Project & Program Management: Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring on-time delivery, scope adherence, and budget management.
- Technical Guidance: Guide the team in architectural approaches, code efficiency, system traceability, and adherence to best practices in software development.
- Estimation & Planning: Lead the team in accurate technical estimation, resource planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and standards to enhance quality and productivity.
Technical Expertise (30%)
- Networking & Security: Apply deep knowledge of Networking and Security principles to guide the development of robust and scalable solutions.
- Hands-on Development (as needed): Maintain a working proficiency and provide expert guidance in one of the primary backend languages, Python or Go (Golang), and the frontend stack, and
- Code Quality: Set and enforce standards for high-quality, efficient, and well-tested code across the team.
Customer & Business Management (20%)
- Business to Technical Translation: Serve as the primary interface with business stakeholders and customers. Excellently translate complex Business Requirements into clear, detailed Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) and technical roadmaps.
- Expectation Management: Manage customer and stakeholder service expectations realistically, clearly communicating trade-offs, timelines, and technical limitations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular, high-level status updates to executive leadership and key customers regarding program progress, risks, and achievements.
Qualifications
Experience: 10-15 years of total experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a formal leadership role such as Team Lead, Project Manager, or Engineering Manager.
Domain Knowledge: Solid, verifiable knowledge base in Networking and/or Security technologies and concepts.
Technical Proficiency (Required Hands-on):
- Strong programming expertise in Python or Go (Golang).
- Hands-on experience with the modern JavaScript ecosystem, specifically and
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a team of 10-15 engineers across different experience levels.
Communication & Business Acumen:
- Excellent customer management skills and a proven track record of successful stakeholder communication.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately scope, estimate, and deliver complex technical projects.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
