Position: Research Assistant at KUDOS in FLAME University

Roles & Responsibilities

As a research assistant, you will be affiliated to the Department of Physical and Natural Science within the School of Liberal Education at FLAME university. However, your day to tasks will be concerning the activities of KUDOS studio at FLAME under the guidance of Prof. Balaji Kalluri. You will be expected to assist in a variety of studio's research and dissemination activities with mutually agreed deliverables from time to time, including game design, IP creation, secondary research, data analysis (qualitative and quantitative methods), proposal writing, manuscript preparation, project and stakeholder management. 

KUDOS is a unique multidisciplinary creative studio anchored within FLAME University which specializes in advancing the science, and policy concerning the future transition pathways of cities in the global-south through research and social experimentation using creative participatory design tools (e.g. serious games). This provides grounded evidence and insights from the society guiding the strategic foresights and decisionmaking. Typical activities include designing serious games, curating stakeholder engagement workshops, field data collection, analysis, reporting and advocacy. Since its inception in 2023, KUDOS has earned distinguished recognition from across the nation and globally for advancing creativity in guiding the society in a pathway balancing justice, sustainability, and resiliency. This position will also allow you to actively collaborate with external partners from various industries (creative, tech, and development) and academic institutions to contribute to the growth of Play2ProgressIndia. Skills, Competencies and Knowledge

Essential

1. Solid understanding of one or more of the following topics - buildings, human settlements, urban environments, facilities & infrastructures, natural resources, spatial geography.
2. Prior training and educational background with a Master in either science/humanities/social sciences/engineering/architecture/design related to the aforementioned topics.
3. Flair for academic reading and writing is a must
4. Good understanding on design and application of qualitative research methods and tools  (e.g. survey, questionnaire) is a must
5. Solid ability to analyse qualitative data to draw insights, visualize patterns, and present them is must
6. Motivated in conducting academic research with impact in mind
7. Personality: Curious mind, hunger to learn, agile to up/reskill, creative, hard/smart working, collaborative, diligent, systematic and meticulous at work, and good PR skills.
8. Project Management: Coordination and scheduling of projects with partners. Tracking project progress, writing reports & proposals from time-to-time.
9. Mindset for innovation through applied research
10. Location: Pune

Desirable

1. Track record of scientific publication (e.g. systematic literature review)
2. Inclination for further research and higher education
3. People engagement, facilitation skills, workshop design, content creation, digital marketing & branding
4. Prior work experience in related fields will be a great asset
5. Independent researcher who can work and report diligently with minimal supervision
6. Quantitative data analysis skills using Python is an advantage
