Role & responsibilities

  • Operation and programming: Operate CMMs to measure parts and components, creating and editing programs to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements.
  • Inspection: Perform various inspections, including first article, in-process, and final inspections, to verify that parts meet design specifications and tolerances.
  • Quality control: Document inspection results, report any discrepancies, and work with quality and production teams to resolve issues and ensure products meet standards.
  • Equipment maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on CMM equipment and related accessories to ensure accuracy and optimal performance.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and other relevant documentation.
  • Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: preference for a technical degree (Mechanical Engineering) or relevant vocational training.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience is commonly required, with 2+ years being frequently cited. Experience in a manufacturing environment is typical.
  • CMM Software: Proficiency in using CMM programming and operating software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or MCOSMOS is essential.
  • GD&T: Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and the ability to interpret related symbols from technical drawings.
  • Technical Drawings: Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Measurement Tools: Experience with standard measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Programming: Ability to write, modify, and optimize inspection programs on CMM equipment.
