Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly diligent and detail-oriented professional for the role of Supplier Quality Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve supplier manufacturing and quality processes. The Supplier Quality Engineer will conduct inspections of supplier parts, verify compliance to specifications, review documentation, and collect product quality feedback. This position plays a key role in supplier development, resolving quality concerns, and ensuring consistent delivery of defect-free material to our organization.

Brief Scope of Job to make sure parts are produced as per quality standards defined by the customer Analyze the data collected in inspection process and inform corrective action to be taken. Ensure quality standard implementation at Supplier end.

Roles & Responsibilities – Supplier Quality Engineer

• Perform sampling inspection of supplier semi-finished and finished parts and ensure proper documentation as per defined procedures.
• Utilize contour measuring machines for daily checking and dimensional verification of supplier parts.
• Conduct hardness inspection and maintain records in inspection files as well as Excel databases.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding quality issues, discrepancies, and Test Certificate (TC) / material test reports.
• Investigate and resolve quality-related issues identified in supplier parts.
• Conduct supplier audits, evaluations, registration formalities, and qualification assessments.
• Prepare and maintain Minutes of Meeting (MoM) for supplier discussions.
• Maintain supplier quality reports – defect rates, rejection trend analysis, areas of concern, supplier performance rating, and share feedback with suppliers.
• Plan and execute supplier audits as per approved audit schedule.
• Perform ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report) for new supplier sample parts.
• Manage ERP transactions related to material transfers – Production, Quality, Dispatch, Rejection, and Rework.
• Maintain supplier rejection data along with debit note details and coordinate with the Accounts department to generate final debit notes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers for defect reduction and quality improvement.
• Drive Supplier PPAP, PPAP audits, action plan follow-up, closure report & approval activities.
• Work as a coordination link between QC Head and vendors to identify issues and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement / Kaizen / quality improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, multitasking, and on-time reporting to achieve results under time-bound conditions.
• Communicate effectively and confidently with cross functional teams, suppliers, and management at all levels.

Knowledge & Technical Competencies

• Measuring instruments and quality checking procedures.
• Basic understanding of Heat Treatment, Surface Treatments, and Machining processes.
• Knowledge of Attribute gauges & awareness of their limitations.
• Familiar with IATF 16949:2016 documentation, requirements & core processes.
• GD&T interpretation and Engineering Drawing reading skills.

Skills

• Skilled in handling and using various measuring instruments & inspection equipment.
• Hands-on experience with VMM, Contour Measuring Machine, Surface Roughness Tester, Height Gauge, etc.
• Data analysis capability with strong report preparation & interpretation skills.
• Software proficiency: MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT), ERP transaction handling / ERP implementation support.
• Excellent communication skills — English, Hindi & Marathi (written & verbal).
• Strong vendor coordination skills; ability to meet delivery schedules while ensuring required quality levels.
• Experience in providing training related to quality and inspection processes.
