Job Description: VLSI Counsellor (IIT Admissions)

Role Overview:

A VLSI Counsellor specializes in guiding students who aspire to pursue VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) programs at IITs through B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. admissions. This role involves providing expert advice on entrance exams like JEE Advanced, GATE (EC/EE/IN/CS), and IIT research admissions, along with career opportunities in semiconductor design, chip manufacturing, and embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Admissions Guidance: Assist students in selecting IIT programs in VLSI through B.Tech (ECE/EEE), M.Tech (Microelectronics/VLSI Design), and Ph.D. programs.
• Exam Strategy & Preparation: Guide students on JEE Advanced (for UG) and GATE (for M.Tech), including subject selection and score requirements.
• Career Pathways: Explain various career options in ASIC/FPGA design, semiconductor fabrication, embedded systems, and EDA tools.
• College Selection: Provide insights on IITs with strong VLSI programs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Hyderabad.
• Research & Internship Support: Assist students in finding research projects, internships at semiconductor companies, and IIT faculty contacts.
• Skill Development Guidance: Recommend essential skills like Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog, Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics tools, and RTL design.
• SOP & Interview Preparation: Help with Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of Recommendation (LOR), and IIT research interviews for M.Tech/Ph.D. admissions.
• Industry Updates: Provide information on semiconductor industry trends, government initiatives (e.g., India Semiconductor Mission), and placement prospects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Electronics & Communication (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EEE), or VLSI Design from a reputed institute (IIT/NIT/IIIT preferred).
• Strong knowledge of IIT admission processes, GATE syllabus, and JEE Advanced cutoffs.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills to guide students effectively.
• Prior experience in academic counselling, coaching, or semiconductor industry roles is a plus.
