Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mid-Level Unity VR Developer (Virtual Reality) to join our team. In this role, you will be pivotal in leading the technical design and development of our VR training simulation projects. You will be responsible for translating complex real-world scenarios into engaging and realistic VR experiences, managing project timelines, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality simulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design and development of VR training simulation projects using the Unity engine.
  • Develop and implement interactive VR experiences specifically for the Oculus and HTC Vive platforms.
  • Integrate hardware components utilizing various ports and communication protocols.
  • Manage and oversee all technical aspects of assigned projects, ensuring adherence to established timelines and quality standards.
  • Implement robust data security measures, including the encryption of JSON files.
  • Utilize version control systems, primarily Git, for collaborative development and efficient code management.
  • Apply strong object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms (DSA) to develop efficient and maintainable code.
  • Proficiently utilize and integrate the XR Interaction Toolkit and SteamVR Plugin to create compelling interactive VR experiences.
  • Adapt and seamlessly integrate various Unity packages and assets to enhance project functionality.
  • Optimize Unity scripts for maximum performance and efficiency within VR environments.
  • Collaborate closely with artists and designers to optimize 3D models and materials specifically for VR rendering.
  • Integrate external APIs, plugins, and third-party libraries to extend Unity's native capabilities.
  • Implement and integrate intuitive user interfaces (UI) within the Unity environment.
  • Accurately replicate complex real-world scenarios and functionalities within the immersive VR simulation environment.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and debug technical issues that arise during development.
  • Contribute actively to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related field.
  • Proven professional experience specifically in Unity VR development.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing VR applications for both Oculus and HTC platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware integration through various ports and protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the technical aspects of development projects.
  • Experience implementing encryption for JSON files to ensure data security.
  • Strong proficiency in Git and other version control systems for collaborative workflows.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and integrate diverse Unity packages and assets.
  • Proven ability to optimize Unity scripts for high performance in VR applications.
  • Solid understanding of 3D models and material optimization techniques for real-time rendering in VR.
  • Experience in designing and integrating user interface (UI) elements within Unity.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a contributing member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other VR/AR/MR platforms beyond Oculus and HTC.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and practices.
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools within the Unity environment.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts relevant to multi-user VR experiences.
