We are hiring GIS Executives to work on editing, correcting, and validating FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps
(FIRM/DFIRM). The role involves cleaning GIS layers, resolving topology issues, updating attributes, applying
FEMA-compliant symbology, and preparing final map deliverables using ArcGIS and MapInfo Pro.
This position does not primarily require hydrology/hydraulic modeling. However, basic knowledge in those
areas will be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. FEMA Map Editing
• Edit and correct FIRM/DFIRM floodplain boundaries, floodways, BFEs, cross-sections, and supporting
layers.
• Update polygons, lines, and annotation layers as per FEMA standards.
2. Attribute & Schema Correction
• Update and correct attribute tables according to FEMA DFIRM Database Schema.
• Maintain proper naming conventions and data integrity.
3. Topology & QC Checks
• Perform topology validations such as identifying gaps, overlaps, slivers, and dangles.
• Execute QC workflows and resolve errors using FEMA tools and checklists.
4. GIS Software Operations
• Edit MAP/TAB files in MapInfo Pro 2023 for panel updates.
• Use ArcGIS Desktop/Pro for spatial corrections, layer validation, attribute cleanup, and layout updates.
5. Symbology & Map Layout
• Apply FEMA-compliant symbology, color codes, hatching, and labeling rules.
• Prepare final FIRM panel layouts and export FEMA-ready maps.
6. Documentation
• Maintain metadata and version control.
• Follow standardized naming conventions for layers, folders, and deliverables.

Required Skills
GIS Technical Expertise
• Strong experience with ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro 3.6+ (Mandatory).
• Working knowledge of MapInfo Pro 2023 (editing + attribute operations).
• Proficiency in:
o Polygon/line editing
o Attribute cleanup
o Topology checks
o Schema corrections
• Ability to switch effectively between ArcGIS and MapInfo environments.
• Familiarity with FEMA layer types such as floodways, floodplains, cross-sections, BFEs, and revision
layers (LOMR/CLOMR optional).
• Understanding of FIRM/DFIRM layers and FEMA mapping guidelines.
Soft Skills
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow structured workflows.
• Good communication for reporting and coordination.
• Willingness to collaborate across teams and time zones.
Experience Required
• 13 years of experience working on GIS (ArcGIS + MapInfo).
• Freshers trained in GIS editing and FEMA basics may also be considered.
