Role: Adobe Journey Optimizer Specialist [AJO Specialist]

Key Responsibilities

1. Advanced Journey Design and Orchestration (Inbound / Outbound)

  • Architect and implement
    complex, multi-channel journeys
    incorporating both inbound triggers (e.g.,
    AEP Streaming Events, SDKs
    ) and outbound channels (
    Email, Push, SMS
    ) within unified workflows.
  • Configure and manage
    event-triggered journeys
    using core AJO activities such as
    Conditions, Wait steps, and Reaction events
    for real-time responsiveness.
  • Design journeys that combine
    real-time behavioral triggers
    with scheduled or batch messaging.
  • Experience working with
    Web Channel
    journeys is a strong plus.

2. Technical Integrations (Custom Actions & APIs)

  • Develop and manage
    Custom Actions
    to connect AJO with external systems (e.g., CRM, Loyalty platforms, Data Lakes).
  • Implement
    REST API
    integrations, including defining
    headers, parameters, authentication, and payloads (JSON)
    to ensure seamless data exchange.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize integrations to maintain high data fidelity and real-time responsiveness.

3. Audience, Segmentation, and Data Governance

  • Design and utilize diverse audience types (
    batch, streaming, real-time
    ) within AJO.
  • Apply
    capping rules (frequency management)
    at journey or channel levels to control message fatigue.
  • Enforce
    data governance
    , ensuring compliance with consent, privacy, and preference management throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Data Privacy and Marketing Operations teams to ensure journeys adhere to organizational data policies.

4. AEP Data Modeling and Real-Time Profile Usage

  • Work extensively with
    AEP XDM schema
    ,
    Union Schema
    , and
    Real-Time Customer Profiles
    to drive personalization and decisioning.
  • Ensure journey configurations align with AEP data structures to support real-time segmentation and personalization use cases.
  • Partner with Data Engineering teams to validate data ingestion pipelines and schema readiness for journey use.

5. Reporting, Optimization, and Content Configuration

  • Use
    AJO native reporting
    and
    Customer Journey Analytics (CJA)
    to monitor KPIs, conversion metrics, and customer engagement.
  • Implement
    content variations, dynamic content, and A/B testing
    to support journey optimization and personalization strategies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in
    content authoring
    within AJO (Email, Push, SMS, and custom channels), including the use of
    personalization syntax and dynamic content blocks
    .
  • Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement based on reporting data.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    4–8 years of experience in marketing automation, martech development, or customer journey orchestration.
  • Technical Tools:
    Proven hands-on expertise with
    Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO)
    and strong familiarity with
    Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
    components (Schemas, Profiles, Segments, Sources, Destinations).
  • Programming & Integration Skills:
    Proficiency in
    REST APIs, JSON, JavaScript, and data mapping
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    event-based architectures
    ,
    trigger configurations
    , and
    data-driven orchestration logic
    .
  • Demonstrated ability to design
    end-to-end personalized, cross-channel journeys
    leveraging both inbound and outbound interactions.
