Job Description : We are seeking a seasoned Linux Administrator (100% individual contributor) to maintain and improve our Linux-based cloud environments, primarily hosted across Rackspace and AWS. You will collaborate closely with Windows teams to ensure robust network communications and play a vital role in adopting Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform and Ansible. A solid grasp of current infrastructures is vital to drive improvements for evolving application architectures.

You will work with other product teams to adopt appropriate new technologies and ensure robust security measures in partnership with the Information Security team. We operate in self-managed teams using Kanban within an agile framework, valuing diversity and open collaboration to deliver effective solutions. Key Responsibilities :

  • Deploy, Monitor & Maintain : Oversee Linux environments, providing ongoing support and performance enhancements.
  • Infrastructure Modernisation : Introduce and implement IaC solutions (Terraform, Ansible) to streamline deployment and configuration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with Windows staff on network communications between Linux and Windows systems, and support product teams with technology adoption.
  • Security Assurance : Partner with the Information Security team to maintain the highest security standards.
  • Technical Guidance : Offer expertise and support to other teams on cloud services and emerging features.

Reporting Structure / Working Hours :

  • Reports directly to the Head of Cloud Services.
  • UK (BST/GMT) Working Hours : 08 : 30

Key Skills and Experience :

  • Linux Administration
  • Ubuntu and/or Debian experience
  • Knowledge of POSIX standards

Scripting Languages :- bash- python- PHP- ansible

Configuration & Services :- Apache, Postfix, OpenSSH, Bind9, OpenVPN, Nagios (OMD), MySQL/MariaDB, Mediawiki, PostgreSQL, systemd, supervisord, Nginx, lxd

Standard Utilities : cron, find, rsync, ps, top, xinetd, git, and others

Additional Experience :- OpenStack (a plus)- AWS (a plus)- Firewall Expertise : Linux Netfilter- Networking : Understanding of subnets and routing )
