Safety Engineer

Job Title: Senior Safety Officer

Industry: Real Estate & Construction

Reports To: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and national safety regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of new and existing regulations and adapt safety practices accordingly.
• Conduct daily site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions for identified safety hazards.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents; document findings and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Prepare detailed incident and investigation reports.
• Monitor and ensure closure of corrective actions.
• Organize and deliver toolbox talks, safety induction programs, and ongoing training sessions for workers and subcontractors.
• Mentor junior safety officers and safety assistants.
• Maintain safety records including inspection logs, PPE issuance, training records, and incident reports.
• Provide regular HSE reports and KPIs to senior management.
• Ensure safety documents are up to date and accessible.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies regarding HSE matters.
• Participate in project planning meetings to integrate HSE measures from the design phase.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements.
• Develop and test site-specific emergency response plans.
• Conduct fire drills, evacuation drills, and first aid exercises.
• Ensure emergency equipment (e.g., extinguishers, first aid kits) is available and functional.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 6–10 years of HSE experience in the real estate development and/or construction industry.
• Familiarity with high-rise, residential, commercial, and infrastructure project safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong documentation and report-writing skills.
• Proficient in MS Office.
