Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Active Directory Specialist to support and enhance our enterprise Active Directory (AD) environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern AD security concepts, authentication protocols, and best practices for managing, securing, and integrating AD across a diverse IT ecosystem. This role also demands strong general IT skills, including risk awareness, communication abilities, and the capability to produce technical documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:Active Directory Expertise:

  • Advanced experience with enterprise-level Active Directory environments.
  • Deep understanding of:
  • Modern AD Security Concepts
  • AD Backup and Restore procedures
  • Group Policy Management
  • LDAP
  • Kerberos and NTLM
  • Ports and Protocols used by AD
  • Integrating Non-Windows Applications with AD
  • AD-related Network Traffic Analysis

General IT Skills:

  • Solid understanding of risk and security principles in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience in writing and maintaining technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-100, MS-101, AZ-800, AZ-801, or equivalent)
  • Experience in hybrid environments (on-prem + Azure AD)
  • Familiarity with Identity Governance and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to support and complete large-scale infrastructure and security projects involving Active Directory.
  • Represent the Active Directory Engineering function in cross-organizational initiatives, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring alignment with AD standards and practices.
  • Manage the full engineering lifecycle of Active Directory enhancement initiatives, including design, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to operations.
  • Review and validate application interactions with Active Directory in a lab environment prior to deployment to UAT and production systems.
  • Assist application owners and technical teams in establishing and maintaining secure and reliable AD connectivity.
  • Ensure that integrated applications do not introduce risks or performance issues to the Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Maintain and manage the AD lab server environment, ensuring it meets technical and security standards required for testing and validation.
  • Perform post-patching validations and functional checkouts in the lab environment to verify system stability before changes are moved to UAT and production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve lab-related user issues, including logon problems, password resets, and account lockouts.
  • Fulfill user requests for lab AD objects such as security groups, organizational units (OUs), and user accounts, ensuring proper access controls and standards compliance.
